"Books don't just go with you, they take you where you've never been." - Anonymous
The Kniterary Society is not just for knitters. This is a chance for anyone to join in and read a book that maybe you never would have picked up otherwise. I'm a person who likes accountability - it's easy to tell yourself you're going to try something or do something...but you never do it. Having a group of people try something with you gives you that extra little push to achieve your goal.
This 'club' (for lack of a better word) could mean something different to everyone. For me - a busy work from home mom to two young kids - it's a way to slow down and lose myself in another time or another world.
This is a super casual thing but I have thought of a few guidelines or things to help it run a little smooth:
Durations of the read (4-6 weeks) Based on the number of pages/chapters we will pick a weekly goal (example from Chapter 1-10) and I'll have a weekly check-in on my Instagram page. Here we can just casually chat about what we think so for, where we predict the story taking us, our favorite characters (or least favorite characters.)
In the last week of the current book, I will post a new poll for two new books - if you ever have recommendations or suggestions I am all ears! Please send me titles, authors, series...whatever!
Whatever your preferred method of reading is (paperback, hardcover, ebook, audiobook) please join us! Everyone is welcome! If you don't want to purchase a new book every month, you don't have to! Check with a friend and see if you can borrow their copy, check out your local library, thrift store or buy second hand online - whatever you are most comfortable with - amazon is my top choice for second hand (when I was in my early 20's I definitely had weekly deliveries from Amazon of second-hand books, so I'm guilty there!) Book Outlet is another recent find of mine and I have nothing but amazing things to say! (bookoutlet.ca) If you are in the United States Powell's is one of my favorites (we were able to visit it last year and I can't wait to go back again! But you can order online as well!)
ANYWAYS! I am no writer and I really just want to express how casual this! I want it to be fun and a way to connect with more of you, build new relationships, and get lost between the pages! I hope you can join :)
